You do not need permission from the Australian Government to import cultural heritage goods into Australia.

It may be illegal to export the goods from the country of origin without permission from the overseas government. If you export goods from the country of origin illegally then they could be seized on import and returned to the country of origin. As an importer you must ensure that all requirements to export the goods from the country of origin have been met.

Important note: It is illegal to export dinosaur eggs or other fossils from the People’s Republic of China without a permit from the Chinese Ministry of Land and Resources. If you import these goods into Australia without a permit they will be seized by Customs and Border Protection and you may be prosecuted.

Drugs being chemicals and compounds as listed in Schedule 4 of the Customs (Prohibited Imports) Regulations, including:

· Isomers or mixture of isomers of a controlled chemicals or compounds;

· A derivative of a controlled chemical or compound, including isomers and mixtures of isomers;

· Substances or things that contain controlled chemical/s or compound/s, including isomers and mixtures of isomers, and derivatives;

· Other chemicals and compounds that are an immediate precursor to a controlled chemical or compound.

· Bạn mang theo thuốc trị bệnh cho bản thân hoặc cho một hành khách khác hay động vật nuôi của bạn;

· Được bác sỹ hoặc bác sỹ thú ý kê đơn và đơn thuốc gốc được xuất trình khi tới cửa khẩu;

· Số lượng thuốc đủ dùng không quá 3 tháng, tính theo liều dùng tối đa mà bác sỹ đã kê trong đơn.

Nếu đơn bác sỹ không viết bằng tiếng Anh thì phải xuất trình bản dịch đơn thuốc ra tiếng Anh. Miễn giấy phép chỉ áp dụng cho thuốc mang theo người.

Nếu bạn từ 18 tuổi trở lên thì không cần phải có giấy phép nhập khẩu cava (họ hồ tiêu) nếu:

· Cava ở dạng rễ hoặc đã sấy khô;

· Lượng kava mang theo không quá 2kg; và

· Được để trong hành lý mang theo của bạn.

Chỉ có hành khách mới được miễn giấy phép nhập khẩu. Bất kỳ một lượng thuốc nào thuộc diện bị kiểm soát nhập khẩu, nếu vận chuyển bằng bất cứ phương tiện nào, như đường bưu điện hay vận tải hàng không, đều cần phải có giấy phép nhập khẩu.

If you are a passenger arriving on board a ship or aircraft you do not need a permit if:

· The drug is required for your own medical treatment or the treatment of another passenger or animal under your care;

· The drugs has been prescribed by a medical practitioner or veterinarian and the original prescription is presented upon arrival; and

· The amount of drug/s does not exceed three (3) months supply at the maximum prescribed dosage.

If the prescription is not in English, then a version translated into English must also be presented. The exemption only applies to drugs carried in your accompanied baggage.

If you are a passenger aged 18 years or over you do not need a permit to import kava if

· The kava is in either root or dried form;

· The amount of kava does not exceed 2 kilograms; and

· The kava is carried in your accompanied baggage.

These exemptions apply only to passengers. Any amount of controlled drugs imported by other means, such as post or air cargo, requires a permit.
